HACAOT has established a Disaster Relief Program to quickly respond to any emergency in Haiti by prepositioning our logistic supplies in discrete and secure locations in Haiti. Our staff are well trained and licensed by both U.S government and non-governmental organizations to respond to a natural disaster anywhere in the world.
Our first response was during hurricane Katrina in 2005 when our staff assisted local government officials in Killeen, Texas by volunteering our services and efforts in the Killeen Community Center. Again on January 12, 2010, HACAOT responded quickly to the earthquake in Haiti, one of the largest natural disasters the world has ever known where over 300,000 people perished .
Through our Emergency Response Center established in Central Texas, HACAOT staff were able to coordinate a rescue effort and fly with a private airplane to work alongside elements of the US Army 82nd Airborne Division, FEMA and the J-P Haitian Relief Organization and organizations from Israel to quickly provide medical assistance to the victims of the earthquake.
Our capability to restock our medical supplies to respond to the earthquake emergency after our annual medical mission in November 2009, two months earlier, is a testament to our ability and capacity to get the job done regardless of our size.
