Haiti has a superficies of 27,750 Km2 only 33% of it is cultivated and the country’s forest have been extinct by the people for charcoal to be used as source of cooking energy. As a result arid soil are wash away and the country now is exhibiting a pitiful pictures which can be clearly seen from the air.
HACAOT is working with a local organization Pro Gaz to discourage use of charcoal and increase us of Natural gas as source of cooking energy. We also are implementing a forestation program call Moringa Project which tree plants will be used for two purposes first as reforestation and second as a nutritional source value.
HACAOT is currently working on the Moringa Project with a very reputable and well known U.S health care agency which name will be release later once final partnership agreement is finalized. Our initial phase of our Moringa Project is underway upon final agreement with our future partner and once financial budget is approved; HACAOT will initiate the second phase of our Moringa Project, with our reforestation program and the implementation of vast education campaign design is reduce the use of Tree for charcoal.
We will work with experts to slowly encourage and implement agricultural technique design educate farmers and provide them technical support for farming.
